A neighborhood park sets a prototypical eco sensitive example by employing Bay Friendly landscaping techniques through a myriad of creative, sustainable landscape concepts. The design created by RMA was one of a single tree surrounded by recycled tile benches and a radiating system of recycled traffic pavers for BBQ and picnic facilities. Surrounding this activity core were lawn and planted areas for both passive and active recreation. A play area for children aged 2-5 yrs is woven into the small park. Central to this park were concepts put forth by StopWaste.org of Oakland, California. Robert Mowat Associates integrated all of the major concepts for Bay Friendly landscaping thereby earning Union City the highest score for any project in the organizations history. Recycled materials, bioswales, native plants, low water use, compost and waste diversion techniques earned this park its accolades.
