Kennedy Park

‘California Dreamin’ is a California inspired park containing creative play and educational elements associated with the Golden State. The design joined two separate circles into a single area of continuous play. At the center, is a play bridge, resembling the Golden Gate, one of the state’s most recognizable landmarks. Naturalistic boulder ramps serve as climbing walls resembling California’s geologic marvels including Yosemite’s Half Dome, El Capitan and Devils Post Pile. Ramps allow for a continuous ADA path of travel to all play areas. One play area expresses a California flora and fauna theme, while another a mining theme including wild mustang and mining cart spring toys. Surfboards contain fun and educational California facts. Benches resemble waves and surfboards. An adjacent picnic area accommodates daycare and afterschool programs with a curving wall of Spanish tiles. In the center, a Piñata pole is available.
