This playground renovation enhanced an existing crescent shaped area bounded by a concrete retaining wall into an exciting race themed adventure playground. A racing car theme was created by weaving a tricycle path track through the play area. The play structure features several auto themed play elements. Play safety paving is enhanced with graphic depictions of flames, smoke, racing lanes and a checkered flags. Recycled tires are woven into the play surfacing creating climbing and balance play areas along with covering trash bins to further the theme. The existing concrete wall was utilized to become a new play feature. Stainless steel toy tracks were installed on top of the wall. The tracks are now used for wheeled toys to be rolled down to the finish line at both ends. A recycled City traffic light begins races. Benches in the shape of auto grilles and tires were designed as seating. Custom built exhaust pipes act as both art and atmosphere.
