Hunters Hot Springs encompasses approximately 5,000 acres adjoining the Yellowstone River in Montana. The clients hired Robert Mowat Associates and Nick Fullerton Architect to analyze the land for potential use as a holistic health resort destination. The project’s goal would be to draw health visitors and vacationers not only for the scenic beauty of rural Montana, but also for world class health facilities. The central focus of the project was an amazing natural resource: a series of existing geothermal hot springs. The team created a unique concept of “cascading the resource”. The geothermal waters were planned to support and enhance a number of community activities. The plan recommends preserving sensitive, existing wildlife habitat areas for animal migration. The plan allows for minimal disturbance to the Montana landscape while including preserved habitat and new planned enhancements.
