Robert Mowat Associates were the land planners on this 114 unit planned community in San Jose. The land plan developed by RMA was unusual in that newly defined streets sections and tighter than usual setbacks would be utilized for the first time in the City of San Jose. Numerous graphic exhibits were shown how parking ratios and turnarounds would be accomplished in 18 foot wide streets. The land plan of single family homes also reduced front and rear yard setbacks to allow for optimal unit layout. Through various illustrative exhibits, the Planning Department, Public Works and City Fire Department all approved for the first time in the City of San Jose a substandard street section of 18 feet curb to curb. This community of single family affordable housing set a new standard for infill development in San Jose.
