A decade earlier, Robert Mowat Associates had designed a large estate garden landscape in Monte Sereno with several outdoor water features. The client wishing to capture the benefits of active solar energy, retained our firm again to create a new solar array design for the site. RMA began by studying the potential solar aspects of the site and created a new Master Plan for the optimal location of the panels. Our study focused on the optimum location for panel placement, angle and orientation, while also carefully considering aesthetics in the final solution. Once the exact site was selected, a plan was proposed to create a bocce court underneath for full use of the space. An aesthetically matching wood arbor was designed along with the court below. Subtle lighting was added to the panel arbor. Robert Mowat Associates performed all construction bidding, administration, City permitting, processing and construction observations on the project.
