In a small park in Union City stands the first completed memorial in the United States for the passengers and crew of United Flight 93. It is designed specifically to honor all of the people now known as heroes of the flight which was bound for San Francisco on September 11, 2001. The memorial expresses emotive feelings of hope and remembrance in the form of nature, stone, steel, and concrete. The memorial is a tribute to the citizens and crew that is universal in nature, neither mired in grief, nor ignoring the terrible consequences that occurred on that plane. It transforms a park into a place of remembrance, reflection and hopefully, a new human direction for the future.
