Whipple Road is a busy thoroughfare that intersects several neighborhood communities. The City while upgrading curb, gutter and utility improvements added landscape elements to enhance community identity. Several City owned triangular parcels were identified for landscape enhancements. RMA designed green social spaces and added signage and monumentation to help identify neighborhood communities. Enhancements created by the firm included sun and shade seating areas along with flowering shrubs and trees to beautify the traffic corridor. Low maintenance plantings are used throughout the ½ mile corridor on the east side of Highway 80. On the western side, heavy plantings of shrubs and trees complement the existing medians. Plantings here were chosen to reflect the character of an adjacent planned development.
