This 17,000 s.f. skate park culminated a two year public input and agency review period. The park is woven into the grounds of the Union City Hall complex. The skate park with undulating forms mimics the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired civic complex. A rigorous period of community and skater input occurred during the design process. RMA refined numerous designs as skaters came and went during the collaborative process altering designs with each successive round of community meetings. The park is designed for beginner and intermediate skaters with a few elements included for advanced skaters. The park is laid out with a series of increasingly more difficult skate elements. Grinding rails graduate in height from 6” to 24” tall. Ledges range from 12” to 30” high. A large half pipe and steep set of stair rails provide challenging elements that only experienced skaters can negotiate.
